Fall is here! Kind of…For those of us who live in California, we aren’t quite ready for Pumpkin Spice Latte’s but only because we’ve had extremely hot weather lately. But there is definitely a change in the air that tells me our Fall Season is right around the corner. My ideal Fall day consists of a enjoying a delicious Pumpkin Spice Latte or Carmel Apple Cider while sitting on a comfortable bench under some beautiful trees. The sun shining at the perfect temperature in order to counter the slightly crisp breeze and of course an amazing book that I can’t seem to put down. With that being said, I have a three year old son (who’s a month away from being four) so that ideal day is pretty much nonexistent. Ha! Not that I would trade him in but…a Mom can dream right? Since it’s almost Fall, I think we need a good list of books that inspire us to try and find time for that ideal afternoon! The books listed below are some that I’ve heard a lot of buzz about and a few I have read and would like to #BookItForward to you all.

Pearl is in charge of: the sad, the good, the past.Stasha must care for: the funny, the future, the bad. It’s 1944 when the twin sisters arrive at Auschwitz with their mother and grandfather. In their benighted new world, Pearl and Stasha Zagorski take refuge in their identical natures, comforting themselves with the private language and shared games of their childhood. As part of the experimental population of twins known as Mengele’s Zoo, the girls experience privileges and horrors unknown to others, and they find themselves changed, stripped of the personalities they once shared, their identities altered by the burdens of guilt and pain. That winter, at a concert orchestrated by Mengele, Pearl disappears. Stasha grieves for her twin, but clings to the possibility that Pearl remains alive. When the camp is liberated by the Red Army, she and her companion Feliks–a boy bent on vengeance for his own lost twin–travel through Poland’s devastation. Undeterred by injury, starvation, or the chaos around them, motivated by equal parts danger and hope, they encounter hostile villagers, Jewish resistance fighters, and fellow refugees, their quest enabled by the notion that Mengele may be captured and brought to justice within the ruins of the Warsaw Zoo. As the young survivors discover what has become of the world, they must try to imagine a future within it.

For those of you read “Where’d You Go Bernadette?” This is another quirky novel by the same author. I didn’t love that one so I don’t think I will read her next book.

A brilliant novel from the author of Where’d You Go, Bernadette, about a day in the life of Eleanor Flood, forced to abandon her small ambitions and awake to a strange, new future.Eleanor knows she’s a mess. But today, she will tackle the little things. She will shower and get dressed. She will have her poetry and yoga lessons after dropping off her son, Timby. She won’t swear. She will initiate sex with her husband, Joe. But before she can put her modest plan into action-life happens. Today, it turns out, is the day Timby has decided to fake sick to weasel his way into his mother’s company. It’s also the day Joe has chosen to tell his office-but not Eleanor-that he’s on vacation. Just when it seems like things can’t go more awry, an encounter with a former colleague produces a graphic memoir whose dramatic tale threatens to reveal a buried family secret. TODAY WILL BE DIFFERENT is a hilarious, heart-filled story about reinvention, sisterhood, and how sometimes it takes facing up to our former selves to truly begin living.

I loved Amy’s book! You must listen to it on audio though to really get the full experience. She is just as hilarious in her book as she is in her comedy. Her book has a lot of heart and she doesn’t lightly tread over tough topics. Amy has been through some tough stuff in her life including sexual assault, domestic violence, problems with her parents and a ton of hateful critics and other people online and in person. She is a strong, beautiful woman who has created her career and is following the path she created to success. I hope she writes more in the future!

I just read my first Harlan Coben book last week called Fool Me Once and it was amazing! 5 🌟’s. I will for sure be picking up his latest novel and will review it here when I’m done.

A decade ago, kidnappers grabbed two boys from wealthy families and demanded ransom, then went silent. No trace of the boys ever surfaced. For ten years their families have been left with nothing but painful memories and a quiet desperation for the day that has finally, miraculously arrived: Myron Bolitar and his friend Win believe they have located one of the boys, now a teenager. Where has he been for ten years, and what does he know about the day, more than half a life ago, when he was taken? And most critically: What can he tell Myron and Win about the fate of his missing friend? Drawing on his singular talent, Harlan Coben delivers an explosive and deeply moving thriller about friendship, family, and the meaning of home.

By far one of my most favorite series ever! While books 2 and 3 weren’t perfect, book 1 was so great! I consider this series Twin Peaks meets The Twilight Zone. I loved that this book shocked me in a way not a lot of books have in the past. Yes they made a TV show about it on Fox, but don’t hold that against them. Read these books! I will warn you that it’s best to buy all three of these books at one time because if you finish the first without having the second ready to go, then you will for sure be kicking yourself!

Wayward Pines, Idaho, is quintessential small-town America — or so it seems. Secret Service agent Ethan Burke arrives in search of two missing federal agents, yet soon is facing much more than he bargained for. After a violent accident lands him in the hospital, Ethan comes to with no ID and no cell phone. The medical staff seems friendly enough, but something feels…off. As the days pass, Ethan’s investigation into his colleagues’ disappearance turns up more questions than answers. Why can’t he make contact with his family in the outside world? Why doesn’t anyone believe he is who he says he is? And what’s the purpose of the electrified fences encircling the town? Are they keeping the residents in? Or something else out? Each step toward the truth takes Ethan further from the world he knows, until he must face the horrifying possibility that he may never leave Wayward Pines alive…

Well I hope this list inspires some Fall reading adventures for you. Please let me know in the comments if you pick any of these to read and make sure to post your review for me!
