One of my all time favorite reading memories as a child was reading the creepy and very scary “Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark.” I was thisclose to buying it for my 5 year old recently, but as I remembered how scared I felt reading it, I have decided to wait. I was so excited recently when I read the news headline on IndieWire.com saying that Academy Award winning director Guillermo del Toro will be bringing these stories to life! Mr. Del Toro brought us the Oscar winning movie The Shape Of Water, as well as the scary vampire saga The Strain on FX which began as a book series he authored along with Chuck Hogan. Although the TV series had its ups and downs, it was a fantastic book series.

Those of us born, or growing up during the 80’s and 90’s will remember the chilling tales within those pages. Reading them was like a rite of passage we had to get through to be considered “cool kids.” I remember this being the book that some parents banned their kids from reading. At sleepovers, we would bring the book out and read it once the parents had all gone to bed. Inevitably, one of us would have to call their parents in the middle of the night to be picked up. Sorry Mom!

No word on an official release date, but you can count on me keeping you posted.
